Small wounds not healing

Hello, I have a small wound on my arm that appears to be infected and is giving me a burning pain up my arm. The wound is very red and there's a noticeable burning sensation around it. It's so sore to the touch that I can barely put any pressure on it. I was prescribed 2x500mg flucloxacillin for two weeks, four times a day by my doctor after consulting the pharmacy. The pharmacist mentioned the possibility of cellulitis, which is a bit worrying for me since I have several scars from similar instances in the past. I'm really concerned as to why these small wounds do not heal, as I'm pretty sure that they are insect bites since I'm always outside when this happens. Could you please tell me why this might be happening? Also, I'm curious to know when can I start feeling better? Thank you.

Based on your description, it sounds like you have developed cellulitis - an infection of the skin. Flucloxacillin is an appropriate antibiotic for this type of infection and you should continue taking it as prescribed. It may take a few days for the medication to start working, but you should begin to feel some relief in the next few days. It is not uncommon for wounds to take longer to heal in some people and it may be due to a variety of factors such as underlying health conditions, poor circulation, and other factors. It is important to keep the wound clean and dry and to avoid scratching or picking at it. If you have any concerns about the wound healing, please come in for a follow-up appointment with your healthcare provider.
